Indian Gas Exchange Limited (IGX) and Central European Gas Hub AG (CEGH) have recently entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on enhancing the Indian gas market. The primary focus of this partnership is to combine CEGH's European market knowledge with IGX's expertise in the Indian market to strengthen the gas trading sector in India. The MoU encompasses various aspects such as natural gas trading, renewable gases including hydrogen, biomethane, and e-methane, commodity certificates, market creation, training programs, and gas hub management. Both companies aim to work together to develop operational models for natural gas trading that incorporate technical advancements and regulatory policies from both Indian and European experiences. Additionally, IGX and CEGH are aligning their strategies to establish trading venues for green gases like hydrogen and biomethane, as well as green gas certificates. They also plan to collaborate on enhancing the development and functionality of gas hubs in India. The overarching goal of this partnership is to provide a seamless, digitalized trading platform that supports India's vision of a gas-based economy and a sustainable, low-carbon future.
