ZeroAvia's ZA2000 engine, featuring high-temperature proton exchange membrane (HTPEM) fuel-cell technology obtained through the acquisition of HyPoint, aligns with Airbus' vision for zero-emission aircraft. With power ranging from 2-5.4 megawatts, the ZA2000 is designed to cater to regional turboprops and jets, suitable for aircraft with 40-90 seats. ZeroAvia has received governmental funding to advance the commercialization of its HTPEM technology, aiming to enhance power density compared to existing solutions. Furthermore, ZeroAvia is in the process of certifying its 600-kW ZA600 powertrain with regulatory authorities, targeting market deployment by the end of 2025. The ZA600, adaptable for retrofit in nine-19 passenger aircraft utilizing Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6-class turboprops, represents a significant step towards sustainable aviation.
