Calgary is venturing into the hydrogen sector with the establishment of the Calgary Region Hydrogen Hub (CRH2), envisioned to create 100 jobs and spur $75 million in private sector development. Managed by the Transition Accelerator, a Canadian charity dedicated to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, CRH2 will collaborate with Alberta's hydrogen producers and various businesses to drive innovation across sectors such as airports, heat and power, industrial fleets, and trains. The project, backed by Alberta Innovates, Calgary Economic Development, and the federal government, aims to boost energy innovation in the region. With a focus on connecting with Edmonton's hub, CRH2 plans to establish a hydrogen corridor between the two cities to further advance the hydrogen sector. The hub's activities will extend beyond a physical location, encompassing a broad range of initiatives to facilitate growth and collaboration within Calgary and the surrounding region, positioning the city as a hub for energy innovation and sustainability.
