The United Kingdom's Hydrogen Energy Association (HEA) has announced the appointment of Emma Guthrie as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Guthrie, known for her expertise in advancing hydrogen technologies and infrastructure, will commence her role on January 30, 2025. With a background encompassing 15 years at Air Products and nine years at IMCD Group, Guthrie aims to leverage her experience to further drive the deployment of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and infrastructure. In her statement, Guthrie expressed her enthusiasm for joining HEA during a crucial period for the hydrogen sector and emphasized her commitment to working with stakeholders to promote hydrogen as a pivotal component of the clean energy transition. The previous CEO, Celia Greaves, who led HEA for twenty years, leaves a legacy of impactful policy development, industry collaboration, and membership growth. Greaves, in her farewell message, highlighted her ongoing dedication to the hydrogen sector through consultancy work. Acknowledging Greaves' contributions, HEA anticipates Guthrie's leadership to bring inspiration and drive the organization forward. HEA, uniting stakeholders across the hydrogen value chain, serves as a significant industry player globally, with a substantial workforce and revenues. Notably, in 2024, HEA unveiled a Hydrogen Projects Map, showcasing diverse projects in the UK's hydrogen domain, including low-carbon production, mobility infrastructure, commercial and industrial applications, and domestic heating solutions. The map, continually updated, reflects the sector's dynamism and growth prospects. Guthrie's appointment symbolizes a new chapter in HEA's journey towards advancing hydrogen technologies and fostering industry collaboration for a sustainable energy future.
