H2Terminals Limited and Cadent have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to supply green hydrogen through the East London Hydrogen Pipeline to industrial users in London. The hydrogen will be produced at H2Terminals' offshore Energy Island project in the North Sea, utilizing wind, wave, and solar energy sources. The liquefied hydrogen will then be transported to terminals on the Thames Estuary and distributed via Cadent's pipeline to industrial consumers in East London. Gerry Wilkinson, CEO of H2Terminals, expressed that this partnership represents a significant moment for green hydrogen infrastructure in London, emphasizing the collaborative effort to combat climate change. The project aims to accelerate the industrial transformation needed to achieve sustainable development goals through cost-effective hydrogen solutions. The East London Hydrogen Pipeline, scheduled for completion by 2030, is set to facilitate the connection between production sites near Tilbury and the Thames Enterprise Park to industrial users in central East London. This initiative aligns with London's ambitious climate targets, including the commitment to achieve net zero emissions by 2030.
