Zhangjiagang, a county-level city in Jiangsu province, China, has emerged as a hub for the hydrogen energy industry with a surge in local companies dedicated to the sector. The city boasts a robust industrial chain covering all aspects of hydrogen, from production to utilization. Hydrogen energy finds application in various sectors within Zhangjiagang, including public transportation, port activities, and logistics. Jiangsu Guofu Hydrogen Energy Equipment Co Ltd, a prominent player in the region, has been instrumental in the growth of hydrogen infrastructure. The company has facilitated the establishment of over 100 hydrogen refueling stations and provided hydrogen systems for 7,000 fuel cell vehicles since its inception in 2016. In a move to further expand its operations, the company is preparing to launch a new smart workshop focused on hydrogen storage systems, with a substantial annual production capacity. The upcoming smart workshop will have the capability to produce 60,000 hydrogen cylinders annually, each with a capacity of 450 liters. These cylinders are tailored for heavy-duty trucks, offering an impressive travel range. With just five cylinders, a 49-ton truck can cover nearly 500 kilometers, highlighting the efficiency and potential of hydrogen energy in the transportation sector.
