Industries minister P Rajeeve highlighted the recognition received by the Kerala Green Hydrogen Valley project at the World Economic Forum in Davos. The project, aimed at decarbonising efforts, particularly in transportation, was praised for its role in reducing carbon emissions in critical sectors. Rajeeve mentioned that the demand for green hydrogen in the state is currently high in sectors like refineries, fertilisers, road transport, water transport, chemicals, and exports. The project has attracted proposals totaling $1.2 billion.
Rajeeve also mentioned the success of their visit to Davos, where they engaged with numerous investors and businesses to showcase Kerala's industrial policy and attract investments. The state's focus on sustainable and responsible business practices garnered interest, leading to follow-ups during the Vizhinjam Conclave. The visit was considered a precursor to the Invest Kerala Summit in Kochi.
Additionally, discussions revolved around the land-pooling system being introduced in Kochi for the first time, with one company already expressing interest in acquiring 40 acres. The state's Chief Secretary mentioned the draft Green Hydrogen Policy, emphasizing the state's progress in solarisation and plans to incorporate hydrogen in gas networks and transportation, besides exporting green ammonia. Investors also expressed interest in research and development opportunities, highlighting areas for improvement in the state's initiatives.
