Nikola Corporation, a global leader in zero-emissions transportation solutions, has collaborated with ITD Industries to launch the first hydrogen refuelling station in Ontario, located at ITD's headquarters in Toronto's Etobicoke borough. The station marks a significant milestone for Nikola in its mission to establish an integrated hydrogen-powered transportation infrastructure. At a ceremony attended by Ontario Premier Doug Ford, Nikola CEO Steve Girsky highlighted the importance of this refuelling station in driving the hydrogen ecosystem forward. The station utilizes a 700-bar pressure-fill system to provide hydrogen fuel for long-range vehicles, including Nikola's Class 8 truck. The launch event also showcased Nikola's positive financial outlook, with strong sales of hydrogen fuel cell trucks contributing to revenue growth. The company aims to further expand its presence in Canada, with plans for a hydrogen fuelling corridor connecting Windsor to Montreal. Jorg Wimbert, head of Canada at Nikola Corporation, emphasized the company's commitment to decarbonizing the freight transportation sector by establishing a hydrogen highway across North America. By overcoming technical and financial challenges, Nikola is positioned for growth and aims to tap into government incentives to drive the adoption of hydrogen-powered trucks in Canada.
