MPK Poznań in Poland has signed a contract with Solaris Bus & Coach for the delivery of five new Solaris Urbino 12 hydrogen buses, which will be expanded to a total of nine fuel cell buses. These new hydrogen buses are scheduled to be in operation on the streets of Poznań by the end of April 2026. This move is part of the city's efforts to enhance its hydrogen fleet, which already includes 25 Urbino hydrogen buses ordered in late 2022. The partnership between MPK Poznań and Solaris dates back to 1996, with recent orders also including 17 articulated electric buses. The official signing ceremony was attended by representatives of MPK Poznań and the Deputy Mayor of Poznań, reinforcing the city's commitment to sustainable public transport. Javier Iriarte, CEO of Solaris Bus & Coach, expressed delight in Poznań's choice of hydrogen buses, praising the city's dedication to green mobility. MPK Poznań's CEO, Krzysztof Dostatni, highlighted the importance of fleet investment for improved public transport comfort and environmental protection. With the addition of these new vehicles, the proportion of zero-emission buses in the company's fleet will increase to over 30%, contributing to the phasing out of less eco-friendly options.
