The Andhra Pradesh cabinet has given the green light to two engineering projects totaling Rs 2,723 crore for Amaravati, the greenfield capital city. These projects include a significant 1 million tonne per annum green ammonia manufacturing facility and South India's first integrated energy project. The push for development in Amaravati comes after alleged neglect during the previous regime, with the current government aiming to elevate the city to world-class standards. Financial assistance is secured from reputable institutions such as the World Bank, HUDCO, and Germany, indicating a strong vote of confidence in the region's potential. The approved projects also encompass a range of renewable energy initiatives, including a green ammonia facility by AM Green Ammonia (India) Pvt Ltd in Kakinada, a solar hybrid and battery storage project in Nandyal and Kadapa districts, and a 400 MW solar energy facility by Tata Power Renewable Energy. Additionally, Reliance Industries (RIL) has been given the go-ahead to establish 500 compressed biogas plants across various districts, signaling a major investment in sustainable energy solutions. The significant developments in Andhra Pradesh will be underscored by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's upcoming visit to the state. During his visit, PM Modi will lay the foundation for the NTPC green hydrogen hub in Pudimaka, initiate the Krishnapatnam Industrial Hub, and introduce the Visakhapatnam railway zone, among other key projects. These endeavors are expected to not only boost economic growth and industrial activity in the region but also create substantial employment opportunities for the local population.
