Enagás, a major energy producer in Spain, is leading the country's push towards hydrogen energy with a substantial investment plan. As part of its strategic update for 2025-2030, Enagás is set to allocate €3.125 billion towards the development of renewable hydrogen infrastructure, out of a total investment of €4.035 billion. The company has already completed the design of Spain's hydrogen backbone, with plans to finalize the investment decision by the end of 2027. The company's expansion plans include an additional 1,480 kilometres of route, with an estimated investment of €2.135 billion. Enagás is confident that by 2030, its hydrogen assets will exceed its natural gas assets, marking a significant shift towards cleaner energy sources. The H2med European corridor, supported by Enagás and other operators, has attracted strong interest, with 528 projects submitted by 168 companies, positioning it as a leading hydrogen initiative in Europe. This commitment to hydrogen reflects Enagás' dedication to renewable energy and underscores Spain's accelerating efforts in the transition towards sustainable energy sources.
