GAIL India Limited announced the inauguration of its first 10 megawatt (MW) green hydrogen plant in Vijaipur, Madhya Pradesh. The plant, developed under the National Green Hydrogen Mission, has the capability to produce 4.3 tonnes per day of hydrogen with a high purity level of 99.99%. This production is achieved through the use of renewable power for the electrolysis of water. The hydrogen generated will be initially used as fuel in conjunction with natural gas for the various processes within the existing plant. GAIL is also working on setting up 20 MW solar power plants in Vijaipur to fulfill the green power needs for green hydrogen production. The company's shares have shown significant growth, with a 26% rally since the beginning of the year. Despite a drop in revenue and net profit for the March quarter, GAIL's focus on green technology and renewable energy production signifies a positive step towards sustainable practices in the energy sector.
