NTPC Green Energy Ltd is embarking on a groundbreaking initiative to establish India's first dedicated transmission network for a 20 GW green hydrogen project in Andhra Pradesh. With an investment of ₹30,000 crore, the network will support the company's green hydrogen hub in Pudimadaka, expected to produce 1,500 tons of green hydrogen daily. Green hydrogen, a clean fuel produced using renewable energy, has substantial industrial applications, including in refineries and steel manufacturing. NTPC plans to swiftly construct the transmission network to be operational by 2032, supporting India's target of 500 GW green energy capacity by the same year. Strategic partnerships with international firms like Toyo Engineering Corp. and Getek AS aim to market the green hydrogen. The project signifies a significant milestone in India's energy landscape, emphasizing the importance of transmission infrastructure in achieving renewable energy goals.
