American renewable energy company Ohmium has announced its investment of Rs 400 crore in Tamil Nadu to establish a green hydrogen manufacturing unit in Chengalpattu district, creating job opportunities for 500 individuals. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in San Francisco in the presence of Chief Minister MK Stalin, who is actively seeking investments during his US visit. Ohmium specializes in designing and manufacturing green hydrogen production and electrolyzer systems, with established pipelines globally. The signing of this MoU marks a significant step towards promoting green energy and sustainability in the region. In addition to the agreement with Ohmium, Tamil Nadu has secured investments from several global companies like Nokia, PayPal, and Google, totaling Rs 900 crore and creating 4,100 jobs in cities like Chennai, Coimbatore, and Madurai. The state government under Stalin's leadership is actively pursuing partnerships to boost economic development and job creation. The chief minister's interactions with senior executives from tech giants like Apple, Google, and Microsoft have also resulted in agreements to establish research labs and foster innovation. Stalin's address to the Tamil diaspora in San Francisco highlighted the strong ties between India and America, emphasizing the significant presence of Indian professionals in various sectors in the US. He urged Indian-Americans to facilitate further investments from American companies into Tamil Nadu, leveraging the state's economic appeal and conducive business environment. The event, attended by prominent government officials and industry leaders, showcased the commitment to fostering collaboration and driving growth in Tamil Nadu's renewable energy and technology sectors.
