The Assam government has introduced the Integrated Clean Energy Policy 2025 with a bold vision to position the state as a clean energy hub by 2030. The policy targets 11.7 GW of renewable energy capacity, including solar, wind, pumped hydro, battery storage, and rooftop solar installations, as well as floating solar to leverage water resources. It also emphasizes the development of a green hydrogen economy, aiming for 2,000 kilo tonnes per year of green hydrogen production by 2030, with incentives for setting up electrolyzer manufacturing units. Assam's focus extends to biofuels, electric mobility, and energy storage solutions, with plans to scale up ethanol and bio-CNG production, establish EV charging stations, and deploy battery energy storage systems and pumped hydro storage. The policy offers a range of incentives such as land allotment, capital subsidies, and exemptions on charges to attract investments in renewable energy, biofuels, and energy storage projects. The execution is streamlined through designated agencies and a single-window clearance system with online portals to ensure timely project approvals. With a commitment to sustainability and national net-zero targets, Assam's clean energy policy is designed to meet local energy demands while contributing significantly to India's clean energy transition.
