The German government has unveiled the Hydrogen Acceleration Act to expedite the expansion of hydrogen infrastructure in the country. In response to the need for energy independence following Russia's actions in Ukraine, the government is emphasizing renewable energies like hydrogen. Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner has highlighted the significance of 'freedom energies' in this context. The Act streamlines planning, approval, and award processes for hydrogen infrastructure projects by integrating simplification and digitalization. Notably, the Act also impacts existing gas pipelines and storage facilities requiring conversion for hydrogen use.
