During the 3rd edition of India Energy Week, India's Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri, presented a vision of a diversified and compelling investment landscape in the energy sector. Minister Puri highlighted India's vast energy resources, including 7.6 billion tonnes of discovered upstream resources and 500 million tonnes of biofuels, foods, and feedstock. He emphasized India's commitment to scaling renewables and targeting 5 million tonnes of hydrogen production by 2030, with $96 billion earmarked for hydrogen investments. Additionally, India aims to increase its gas share by 6% to reach 15% and invest $30 billion in mining and petrochemical expansion. The minister underlined the importance of policy measures that incentivize innovation and de-risk investments for a successful energy transition. He stressed the significance of a just transition, highlighting that energy justice must be at the core of the transformation to prevent deepening inequality. The international event expects participation from over 70,000 energy professionals and energy ministers from various countries, including Qatar, UK, Russia, and Venezuela. Executives from international organizations and Fortune 500 energy companies will also be present. The event aims to foster discussions on energy transition, investments, and ensuring a sustainable and equitable energy future.
