Scottish hydrogen technology firm, Logan Energy, has landed its most significant contract yet with a deal to fuel ten hydrogen-powered buses in the Czech Republic. Partnering with Czech company ČEZ ESCO, the project in Mníšek pod Brdy aims to provide sustainable transport solutions using green hydrogen generated from hydroelectric power. Logan will supply a range of essential equipment for the buses, contributing to near-zero emissions in the hilly region near Prague. CEO Bill Ireland expressed the project's potential as a catalyst for future hydrogen ventures in the Czech Republic and beyond, highlighting the advantages of hydrogen over traditional electric vehicle technology. While praising the progress in hydrogen projects globally, Logan pointed out the need for the UK to catch up in green hydrogen transport infrastructure development. The company urged for more support from the UK government to stimulate investments in projects similar to the Czech initiative, emphasizing the role of hydrogen in achieving net-zero targets. Despite existing hydrogen projects in the UK, like the Aberdeen Hydrogen Hub, more rapid investment is required for the country to become a hydrogen exporter. Logan Energy's portfolio extends beyond the UK, with ventures in various countries and regions, indicating a growing international interest in hydrogen technology. Recent investments, including a substantial £5 million funding from Lanxing New Energy, underline the confidence and potential in Logan's expansion and the hydrogen sector overall.
