Ulsan City in South Korea has taken a significant step by launching a Distributed Energy Support Center, becoming the first local government in the country to do so. The center aims to establish a Distributed Energy Specialized Area to attract energy-intensive industries such as semiconductors and AI. By facilitating local electricity trading and providing stable and cost-effective power supply options, the initiative is expected to bolster economic development in the region. The center's creation aligns with the recently implemented Special Act on the Promotion of Distributed Energy. Ulsan's expertise in renewable energy, including solar and wind power, as well as its focus on hydrogen energy, positions the city well for success in this endeavor. Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom emphasized Ulsan's leadership in advocating for the special law and expressed determination to drive positive outcomes in the development of distributed energy specialized areas through collaboration with energy sector experts and adherence to government guidelines.
