The US Arctic Research Commission and the University of Alaska Fairbanks Geophysical Institute are set to host a workshop on geological hydrogen from October 29-31, 2024, at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, in Fairbanks, AK. The primary objective of the workshop's initial two days is to delve into ongoing research on geological hydrogen and outline a path for sustainable research efforts to evaluate Alaska's geological hydrogen potential. The third day will shift the focus towards discussions on the practical aspects of hydrogen, such as utility, economics, storage, transportation, as well as the essential policy and regulatory frameworks required for further research, exploration, and development. Anticipating a gathering of over 100 participants, the event will see a diverse mix of international experts on geologic hydrogen, Alaska geology specialists, private industry stakeholders, Alaska Native Organizations representatives, and government officials including regulators, resource managers, and legislators.
