ACWA Power, a prominent developer and operator of power and water desalination plants globally, is on track to complete the first phase of a groundbreaking green hydrogen project in Egypt's Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) by the fourth quarter of 2028. The CEO of ACWA Power Egypt, Hassan Amin, has confirmed that this ambitious venture, initiated under an agreement inked in 2023, involves a staggering investment surpassing $4 billion. The primary objective of the project is to manufacture 600,000 tons of green ammonia annually, with future plans to scale production to 2 million tons post-expansion. To power this colossal operation sustainably, the plant will draw upon renewable energy harnessed from the East Nile feeding stations located in Minya, Upper Egypt. This strategic choice underscores a commitment to utilizing clean energy sources for industrial processes, marking a significant shift towards environmentally friendly production methods.
