French industrial gas supplier Air Liquide has recently become a member of the Zero Emissions Ship Technology Association (ZESTAs) to advocate for the adoption of zero emissions ship technology (ZEST) in the maritime industry. ZESTAs serves as a collaboration platform for technology providers, aiming to influence regulators and policymakers at national and international levels to implement legislation that promotes the uptake of ZEST. Air Liquide's involvement will focus on supporting the global expansion of green liquid hydrogen ecosystems through events and advocacy organized by ZESTAs. Madadh MacLaine, Secretary General of ZESTAs, expressed excitement about Air Liquide joining, emphasizing the shared goal of creating zero emissions maritime ecosystems. Erwin Penfornis, VP of Hydrogen Energy World Business Line at Air Liquide, highlighted the company's commitment to preparing for the future through strategic actions. In addition to joining ZESTAs, Air Liquide issued a €500 million green bond in May 2024 to finance energy transition and sustainable projects. This funding will specifically support initiatives in low-carbon hydrogen, carbon capture, and low-carbon air gases. The issuance of this green bond follows Air Liquide's previous green bond in 2021, showcasing the company's ongoing dedication to environmental sustainability and innovation.
