Andhra Pradesh's Energy Minister, Gottipati Ravikumar, disclosed plans for a massive green energy transformation in the state. The initiative includes the establishment of a 1,200-acre green hydrogen hub project in partnership with NTPC and Nredcap, with a significant investment of Rs 1.85 lakh crore. The minister aims to export 3,000 tonnes of green hydrogen by 2030, positioning Andhra Pradesh as a key player in the green energy sector. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, the state is marching towards becoming a green energy hub, with a focus on strengthening the renewable energy sector. Additional initiatives encompass setting up 500 compressed biogas (CBG) plants by Reliance, signing MoUs with Tata Renewable Energy Limited for substantial investments, and introducing battery storage systems for the first time in the state. The government is also working on enhancing electricity infrastructure, constructing substations, and planning for increased power generation to meet rising demand. Notable efforts include providing quality electricity, particularly to farmers through schemes like PM Kusum. The minister highlighted the government's commitment to not raising electricity charges and emphasized the positive strides made by the AP genco in power generation. Additionally, he contrasted the current administration's approach with the previous government's impact on the power sector, criticizing the YSRCP government's policies for burdening the people with increased electricity charges and neglecting important irrigation projects.
