The partnership will delve into ventures related to green hydrogen, green ammonia, emissions reduction in port operations, and other emerging green fuel technologies. Leveraging Sembcorp's expertise in renewables and BPCL's knowledge in the petroleum sector, the joint venture plans to make significant strides in the green energy space. G Krishnakumar, the Chairman and Managing Director of BPCL, expressed the company's commitment to developing a robust renewable energy portfolio with a target capacity of 10GW and achieving net-zero emissions by 2040. Vipul Tuli, the President and CEO for Renewables at Sembcorp, highlighted the company's focus on decarbonising hard-to-abate sectors by identifying opportunities in green hydrogen and ammonia. Sembcorp, with a renewable asset base of 6GW in India, is actively pursuing green hydrogen and ammonia as key pathways for decarbonisation.
