British Gas, Johnson Matthey, and other key players have united under the leadership of JCB scion Jo Bamford to introduce a £6.5 billion project aimed at elevating hydrogen production in the UK. The coalition, known as Project HySpeed, envisions constructing a substantial one gigawatt green hydrogen production capability by 2030. This ambitious endeavor is forecasted to generate approximately 24,300 employment opportunities while also luring in excess of £6 billion in private investments. If the project comes to fruition, it would stand as one of the most significant hydrogen schemes within the UK and on a global scale. The collaboration spearheaded by Bamford has submitted proposals to energy secretary Ed Miliband, outlining the strategic roadmap for the venture.
