Natural Resources Canada has awarded over CAD $9m to six projects aimed at promoting and advancing Canada's clean hydrogen sector. Enbridge Gas, Trans Québec & Maritimes Pipeline, University of British Columbia, Ayrton Energy, and others received funding for various initiatives like hydrogen blending studies, pilot hydrogen pyrolysis plant development, and clean hydrogen generation projects. The investments will support the feasibility and implementation of hydrogen technologies across different sectors. Minister Jonathan Wilkinson highlighted the progress in the hydrogen value chain, emphasizing Canada's ambition to become a leading supplier in a Net Zero world. The projects are part of a broader effort by the Canadian government to boost the country's hydrogen sector and support local energy leaders in transitioning towards clean energy solutions. Additionally, the recent enactment of the CAD $5.6bn Clean Hydrogen Investment Tax Credit aims to provide substantial financial support, ranging between 15 and 40% of investments, to eligible hydrogen projects. This move is expected to further accelerate the growth of clean hydrogen initiatives and reinforce Canada's commitment to a sustainable future.
