Topsoe, ABB, and Fluor have joined forces to establish a standardized approach for building Topsoe's solid oxide electrolysis cells (SOEC) factory in Chesterfield, Virginia, U.S. The aim is to enhance safety, reduce costs, and ensure efficient project execution. The factory, subject to final investment approval, is set to be operational by 2028, supplying electrolyzers for green hydrogen production crucial for decarbonizing industries and transportation. The alliance targets accelerating the energy transition by expanding electrolyzer capacity and e-fuels production to support a net-zero future. Topsoe's innovative SOEC technology is expected to drive down clean hydrogen costs significantly, aided by a $136 million federal tax credit allocation. This initiative signifies a step towards sustainable hydrogen production and a greener economy.
