Liebherr and STRABAG have embarked on a groundbreaking initiative to decarbonize the construction sector by testing a hydrogen-powered wheel loader at the Kanzelstein quarry in Gratkorn. STRABAG, as the first Liebherr customer to utilize the L 566 H prototype, aims to reduce up to 100 tonnes of CO2 annually by switching from diesel to hydrogen. This innovative project, supported by Energie Steiermark's green hydrogen supply, signifies a significant step towards reducing greenhouse gas emissions in a challenging industry. The joint efforts of the two companies, endorsed by figures like Federal Minister Leonore Gewessler, showcase the importance of embracing alternative fuels like green hydrogen for a sustainable future.
