Key Ideas
  • HPC Hamburg Port Consulting to lead project coordination and financial management for "H2-Derivatives@BalticSeaPorts" initiative from 2025 to 2028.
  • The project aims to promote the adoption of hydrogen-based derivatives as sustainable cargo and maritime fuels in Baltic Sea ports.
  • HPC's expertise in project development and port operations ensures the successful implementation of market forecasts, investment models, and safety regulations.
  • The collaborative effort involves 15 project partners from seven Baltic Sea Region countries, supported by 23 associated organizations, to accelerate the transition to green hydrogen derivatives.
HPC Hamburg Port Consulting (HPC) has been appointed to oversee project coordination and financial management for the "H2-Derivatives@BalticSeaPorts" initiative, financed by the Baltic Sea Region Programme 2021-2027. Led by the Port of Hamburg Marketing (HHM), the project aims to facilitate the use of hydrogen-based derivatives as cargo and maritime fuels in Baltic Sea ports between March 2025 and February 2028. Recognizing the importance of transitioning to sustainable fuels in the maritime industry, the project addresses knowledge gaps and operational challenges faced by port authorities, terminal operators, and energy suppliers. H2Deri@BSP will develop market forecasts, investment models, bunkering technologies, berth mapping, and safety regulations to enable the seamless handling of hydrogen derivatives. HPC's role encompasses project coordination, financial management, and leveraging its extensive experience in Interreg projects and maritime industry sustainability. The collaborative effort involves 15 project partners from seven Baltic Sea countries and 23 associated organizations, aiming to accelerate the adoption of green hydrogen derivatives and create a scalable roadmap for sustainable energy transformation. The project's outcomes will be widely shared to benefit EU regions, promoting the adoption of green technologies and contributing to significant CO2 reductions. H2Deri@BSP showcases how collaborative endeavors can pave the way for a zero-emission future in maritime transport.
