The European Clean Hydrogen Alliance is spearheading efforts to accelerate investments in clean hydrogen through the unveiling of a comprehensive project pipeline. This pipeline, introduced at the third Hydrogen Forum in November 2021 and further expanded in August 2022, now comprises over 840 viable projects across the hydrogen value chain. These projects span hydrogen production, transmission, distribution, and applications in various sectors like industry, transport, energy systems, and buildings. Notably, the focus lies on industries such as chemicals, refining, steel, and transportation, including heavy-duty road and maritime transport. The projects included in the pipeline are strategically located across Europe, with many scheduled to commence operations by the end of 2025. The EU views the deployment of these clean hydrogen projects as instrumental in reducing its reliance on Russian gas and achieving decarbonisation targets. To ensure quality and efficacy, the Commission's services rigorously assess these projects based on predefined criteria like project scope, size, maturity, and emissions reduction. It is essential to highlight that being part of the alliance project pipeline does not confer any direct financial or regulatory advantages to the projects. The purpose of this initiative is to offer a transparent overview of viable investment opportunities in the clean hydrogen sector.
