The Green Energy Transition Indonesia program, with the support of the British Embassy, is driving the Indonesia Green Hydrogen Accelerator initiative to increase investments in low-carbon energy. This initiative aims to establish a green hydrogen business ecosystem to align with the National Hydrogen Strategy (SHN) outlined by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. The SHN targets the period 2025-2030 to lay the foundation for the hydrogen ecosystem in Indonesia by developing standards, regulations, and certifications for the market. To achieve these goals, the Ministry has set up a hydrogen technical committee and conducted studies on the green hydrogen supply chain feasibility. The potential for green hydrogen in Indonesia is vast, with projections indicating a significant increase in demand by 2060. The focus is shifting towards utilizing renewable energy resources to produce green hydrogen for domestic use and potential export markets. The upcoming Global Hydrogen Ecosystem Summit (GHES) organized by IFHE is set to drive global collaboration to make hydrogen a central component of Indonesia's clean energy transition. In addition to the summit, the Institute for Essential Services Reform (IESR) is hosting educational webinars to educate the public on the role of green hydrogen in the energy transition. These sessions will cover the production process, benefits, opportunities, challenges, and technological innovations associated with green hydrogen. By promoting understanding and readiness in the workforce, Indonesia aims to accelerate the development of a robust and sustainable green hydrogen industry.
