The Ministry of Energy and Minerals (MEM) in Oman, in partnership with various stakeholders, is dedicated to enhancing local content and achieving sustainable development. Dr Ali bin Salim al Rajhi, the Director General of Planning at MEM, highlighted the ministry's focus on initiatives aligned with the National Policy for Local Content. These efforts include skill enhancement programs for Omani workers, job creation, and support for SMEs in the minerals sector. The ministry is also driving Omanisation rates to significant levels, with a particular emphasis on the oil and gas industry. Collaborative projects with the private sector, such as the National System Readiness Laboratory and the Hydrogen Oman Company (Hydrom), are aimed at leveraging green hydrogen opportunities. By supervising various manufacturing projects and utilizing Oman's rich mineral resources, MEM is contributing to economic diversification. Moreover, the ministry's strategy for social responsibility within the oil and gas sector underscores its commitment to sustainable practices and community service. Through these multifaceted approaches, MEM is paving the way for a sustainable and locally empowered future in Oman.
