Energie Baden-Württemberg (EnBW) has announced a partnership with the Skipavika Green Ammonia (SkiGA) project in Norway to market 100,000 tonnes of green ammonia annually starting from 2027. The SkiGA initiative, which features a 130MW electrolyser, is expected to significantly reduce carbon emissions by approximately 240,000 tonnes per year compared to traditional grey ammonia production. This move positions SkiGA as one of Europe's first emission-free green ammonia facilities. EnBW's collaboration with Norwegian partner FUELLA, including a 10% equity stake, aims to support the investment decision and secure exclusive rights to a long-term offtake agreement. The partnership with FUELLA allows EnBW to gain valuable experience in developing and upscaling green gas infrastructure, contributing to a carbon-free energy supply. Moreover, EnBW has revealed plans to invest around €1bn in establishing and expanding Germany's national hydrogen core network (HCN). The company's subsidiaries have already submitted commitments for pipeline projects to the Federal Agency, awaiting approval, showcasing their dedication to advancing sustainable energy infrastructure.
