Commissioner for Energy, Kadri Simson, is in Montevideo to enhance the bilateral energy cooperation between the EU and Uruguay. This visit is a part of the commitments outlined in the EU-Uruguay Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on renewable energy, energy efficiency, and renewable hydrogen. Simson is set to co-chair the fourth EU-Uruguay Energy Dialogue with Uruguay's Minister of Industry, Energy and Mining, Elisa Facio, to discuss the implementation of the MoU, with a special emphasis on green hydrogen and energy efficiency. Additionally, she will participate in the fifth European Investment Forum on Energy and deliver a keynote speech, where she will announce a project supporting the implementation of the Green Hydrogen Roadmap in Uruguay. The Commissioner will also engage in meetings with national authorities, such as the President of the Parliament and Vice-President of Uruguay, Beatriz Argimon. Furthermore, she will meet with representatives of EU energy businesses operating in Uruguay, aiming to strengthen collaboration and exchange expertise.
