European companies have come together to form the H2med Alliance, with the goal of accelerating decarbonisation through the establishment of the Southwestern Hydrogen Corridor by the early 2030s. The Alliance includes notable companies such as Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, thyssenkrupp, and Enagás, among others. The initiative aims to reinforce the deployment of a European hydrogen single market and connect various hydrogen projects. The announcement was made during an event at the German Embassy in Madrid, with key representatives from Germany, Spain, Portugal, and other countries present. The Alliance's main objective is to drive a strong European hydrogen value chain in alignment with the European Green Deal and other sustainability goals. By promoting collaboration across the hydrogen value chain segments such as production, technology, and consumption, the Alliance seeks to create favorable conditions for strategic projects. This collaborative effort is crucial for ensuring a steady supply and demand for hydrogen, ultimately contributing to the competitiveness and resilience of the European energy system. The H2med Alliance will play a pivotal role in advancing domestic hydrogen markets and decarbonisation efforts within the member countries. Through the development of a trans-European hydrogen ecosystem and the establishment of a hydrogen single market, the Alliance aims to address the decarbonisation challenges in hard-to-abate sectors such as industry, maritime, aviation, and heavy transport. Additionally, the Alliance plans to work on enhancing hydrogen network projects and connecting various components of the hydrogen value chain to foster the growth of the hydrogen economy in Europe. Regular meetings will be held to ensure coordination among members and identify synergies and opportunities for further collaboration.
