Two gas infrastructure companies in Europe have signed an agreement with promoters of renewable hydrogen infrastructure to collaborate on the development of sustainable CO2 management and the transport of decarbonized molecules like green hydrogen and green ammonia. The joint efforts will focus on conducting necessary analysis and feasibility studies to establish a logistics chain that facilitates the movement of these sustainable products. The projects planned under this agreement, pending regulatory development, include the transportation and storage of CO2 from Spain to the Netherlands. This includes biogenic CO2 sourced from biomass processes like decomposition, digestion, or combustion, with guarantees of origin. The biogenic CO2 can be utilized for methanol production and the export of ammonia and other decarbonized molecules through the establishment of multimolecule terminals. Furthermore, the agreement also involves the identification of potential offtakers in industrial sectors such as fertilizers and for enhancing the mobility of the maritime industry through green hydrogen adoption. A specific action plan has been outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding, which includes regular meetings between the involved parties to ensure the successful execution of the collaborative projects in the upcoming months.
