A significant wind-powered hydrogen production project in the Exploits Valley region has progressed to a new stage in its environmental assessment process. Minister Lisa Dempster has directed the Exploits Valley Renewable Energy Corporation to prepare an environmental impact statement for the project. The statement will need to address various aspects, including the project scope, source water supply, water balance, water resources management, greenhouse gas emissions, and the necessity of power supply from the provincial grid. Furthermore, detailed information is required concerning the placement of turbines and their potential impact on the local ecosystem, encompassing flora and fauna such as fish, bats, birds, and other animals. This initiative signifies a positive step towards utilizing renewable energy sources like wind power to produce hydrogen, thereby promoting sustainable energy practices in the Exploits Valley region.
