The Scottish Government is aiming to harness the economic potential of the green economy in Scotland by creating an environment conducive to growth and investment. By aligning tools and levers to support the identified opportunities, they are focusing on overcoming obstacles and enhancing enablers for the transition to net zero. Key principles guiding this strategy include listening to businesses and investors to understand priorities and focusing on areas where the government can have the most significant impact. Six enabling factors have been identified, ranging from supporting investment and research to workforce development and infrastructure planning. A specific emphasis is placed on attracting capital investments for large-scale projects in areas such as wind, hydrogen, CCUS, and energy-intensive industries. Scotland's port infrastructure is highlighted as offering significant opportunities, with examples like the transformation of Ardersier port through substantial public and private investments. Efforts are being made to differentiate Scotland as an attractive market for global capital, including the development of a national project pipeline, a new system for attracting investors, and initiatives to raise Scotland's profile as an investment destination. By hosting forums and exploring innovative funding and financing approaches, the government aims to accelerate the deployment of infrastructure projects and fully realize the economic potential of the green economy opportunities.
