The Hydrogen Council has released its latest report, Hydrogen Insights 2024, in collaboration with McKinsey & Company, showcasing the significant growth and maturation of the global clean hydrogen project pipeline. The report reveals a seven-fold increase in committed capital for clean hydrogen projects reaching final investment decision (FID) since 2020, surging from USD 10 billion to USD 75 billion across 434 projects by 2024. Highlighted in the analysis of over 1,500 projects worldwide, the report emphasizes the need for acceleration in deployment to meet global climate goals. The shift towards project execution is evident, with investments past FID growing by 90%, and a notable increase in front-end engineering design (FEED) stage projects by 30%. The data from October 2023 to May 2024 indicates a clear transition from project planning to implementation, with total announced investments through 2030 reaching USD 680 billion, a 20% increase from previous figures.
