Greece's gas transmission system operator DESFA and Bulgaria's gas TSO Bulgartransgaz are joining forces to facilitate the development of hydrogen infrastructure. They are inviting prospective hydrogen producers, consumers, traders, and suppliers to submit their anticipated needs, delivery points, and potential production locations. The two companies are organizing a virtual workshop to provide technical details for interested parties. The aim is to create a hydrogen market that enhances energy security, economic growth, and environmental sustainability. DESFA and Bulgartransgaz are encouraging stakeholders at all project stages to express their interest in hydrogen projects. The European Commission has acknowledged their projects as important for the region, with plans for significant hydrogen pipeline development in Bulgaria and Greece. Bulgartransgaz is constructing a 250km pipeline with two compressor stations, while DESFA is preparing for a 570km pipeline with two compressor stations as well. The companies are focused on developing a hydrogen transmission market and connecting potential users and producers within and between the two countries.
