H3 Dynamics Partners with EU-funded HyPoTraDe Project for Clean Aviation Innovation
Key Ideas
  • H3 Dynamics collaborates with the HyPoTraDe project to supply aviation-grade fuel cell systems and provide guidance for commissioning and testing.
  • The HyPoTraDe consortium, funded by the EU's Clean Aviation joint undertaking, aims to develop a 500kW modular fuel cell-battery hybrid-electric propulsion system for light aircraft.
  • The project's outcomes will lead to the integration of hydrogen-electric powertrains in small aircraft, paving the way for regional and short-range hydrogen-powered flights by 2035.
  • Ground tests on the demonstrator are scheduled to begin in Q2 2025, with the project set to conclude by the end of 2025 after validating the digital twin technology.
Aviation-focused company H3 Dynamics has partnered with the HyPoTraDe project, backed by EU funding, to advance clean aviation technologies. The project, based in Toulouse, focuses on designing a 500kW modular fuel cell-battery hybrid-electric propulsion system for small aircraft. Through this initiative, the consortium led by Pipistrel aims to introduce hydrogen-electric powertrains in sub-19 seat light aircraft, with a vision to operationalize hydrogen-powered regional flights by 2035. The HyPoTraDe project will conduct ground tests on its demonstrator starting in Q2 2025, using insights to refine a digital twin for predictive performance analysis. H3 Dynamics will play a key role in supplying fuel cell systems and supporting testing activities. The endeavor marks a positive step towards sustainable aviation and signifies a collaborative effort to drive innovation in the aviation industry.
