Hydrogen de France (HDF Energy), a prominent French energy company, recently opened its first fuel cell factory in Bordeaux, France, positioning itself to launch 'green' hydrogen manufacturing facilities in Vietnam and other global locations. The company's Director in Vietnam, Tran Khanh Viet Dung, highlighted HDF Energy's collaboration with key Vietnamese entities to develop renewable energy projects in provinces like Kien Giang, Binh Thuan, and Ninh Thuan. These initiatives focus on utilizing wind and solar power to produce sustainable 'green' hydrogen for the transportation sector. Notably, HDF Energy is working with the Vietnam Railway Corporation to convert nearly 200 aging diesel locomotives to run on clean hydrogen, aligning with Vietnam's emission reduction goals and the approved 'green' hydrogen energy strategy. Additionally, HDF Energy has partnered with Petrovietnam Technical Services Corporation to leverage Renewstable and Hypower technologies for renewable energy and hydrogen generation projects in Vietnam and the Asia-Pacific region. The company's commitment to Vietnam's energy transition is evident through collaborations with the Just Energy Transition Partnership and financial institutions like the French Development Agency. Mathieu Geze, HDF Energy's Executive Director for Asia, expressed the company's dedication to supporting Vietnam's carbon emission reduction efforts. The Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Nouvelle Aquitaine emphasized the potential for cooperation between Nouvelle Aquitaine, represented by HDF Energy, and Vietnam in the renewable energy sector. This partnership signifies a positive step towards sustainable energy development and international collaboration.
