HyTerra, backed by Fortescue, is scheduled to begin drilling for natural hydrogen and helium in April 2025 at the Nemaha project in Kansas. The company's 12-month exploration program aims to unlock the potential of natural hydrogen, starting with the drilling of the first two back-to-back wells. These wells, along with geophysical surveying, will provide crucial subsurface data for the gases. With confirmed presence of hydrogen and helium in the area, the project's proximity to existing infrastructure and potential offtakers like ethanol and ammonia manufacturers positions it well for clean energy production. The company plans to refine the geological model based on initial drilling results and carry out extended production testing.
