Indian Railways is on the brink of introducing hydrogen-powered trains in India to enhance eco-friendly mobility. The Ministry of Railways is leading the transition, allocating significant resources to develop 35 hydrogen fuel cell-based trains. India's first hydrogen train is being crafted by the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai, with plans to unveil the train set by March 31, 2025. This advancement signifies a crucial step towards green transportation technology and supports the nation's zero carbon emission objectives. Notably, India has achieved a remarkable feat by creating a hydrogen-powered train engine with the world's highest capacity of 1,200 horsepower, indicating a significant leap in sustainable transportation innovation. The inaugural hydrogen train is designated for the Northern Railway's Delhi Division and is slated to operate on the Jind-Sonipat section, spanning 89 kilometers.
