OXCCU and px Group have announced a collaboration to develop a first-of-a-kind demonstration plant at Saltend Chemicals Park in the Humber, UK. The plant will convert carbon dioxide and green hydrogen into sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) using OXCCU's novel carbon-to-value technology. The project aims to simplify SAF production by turning CO2 directly into aviation fuel range hydrocarbons in a single step. The plant is expected to produce 160 kg of liquid fuel per day, primarily SAF, aligning with the UK government's push for increased SAF production to meet sustainability targets. px Group will provide engineering design, construction, and operational support for the plant, showcasing a commitment to reducing CO2 emissions and promoting sustainability in the aviation industry. The project is set to start operations in 2026, coinciding with the UK government's strategy to establish the country as a leader in SAF production. Both CEOs expressed enthusiasm for the project, highlighting the potential for lower-cost SAF and the long-term sustainability of the UK aviation sector. The collaboration with OXCCU comes after the approval of the Hydrogen-to-Humber H2H Saltend decarbonisation project, indicating a growing trend towards innovative solutions in decarbonisation and renewable energy production in the UK.
