Invenergy has announced the operational success of its Sauk Valley Hydrogen facility in Rock Falls, Illinois. The 5-acre facility, in collaboration with Ohmium International, is capable of producing 40 metric tons of clean hydrogen annually, utilizing power from a co-located solar facility. The project also includes on-site hydrogen storage of up to 400 kilograms and the capacity for offsite shipping. The initial hydrogen production at Sauk Valley has been used for the turbine generator cooling agent at the adjacent Nelson Energy Center.
