The IPCEI Hy2Move project, a collaborative effort by seven EU member states including Germany, Estonia, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Slovakia, and Spain, focuses on boosting research, innovation, and investment in hydrogen technologies. With a substantial public funding of 1.4 billion euros, this initiative aims to leverage an additional €3.3 billion in private investments, signaling a significant push towards sustainable energy solutions. The project will support a total of 13 ambitious projects involving 11 companies, spanning areas like fuel cell vehicles for buses and trucks, hydrogen integration in mass transport, advanced fuel cell technologies for ships and locomotives, and high-purity hydrogen production for refueling stations. Notably, the funded projects aim to surpass current technology standards, leading to major advancements in mobility and transport applications, on-board hydrogen storage, and hydrogen generation. Among the beneficiaries of this initiative are prominent companies like Airbus, BMW, Hydrogène de France, Skeleton, and Tomark, highlighting the broad industry participation in driving hydrogen innovation. IPCEI Hy2Move marks the fourth IPCEI dedicated to promoting hydrogen within the EU, following previous approvals like 'ICEI Hy2Tech,' 'IPCEI Hy2Use,' and 'IPCEI Hy2Infra.' This concerted effort underscores the EU's commitment to fostering sustainable transportation solutions and advancing hydrogen technology across various sectors.
