JEKTA Partners with ZeroAvia for Hydrogen-Electric Amphibious Aircraft Innovation
Key Ideas
  • JEKTA selects ZeroAvia's fuel cell technology to enhance the range and payload of its PHA-ZE 100 amphibious aircraft.
  • The collaboration aims to certify an integrated power generation system with a hydrogen fuel system, offering operators the choice of two fuel sources.
  • ZeroAvia's CEO expresses excitement about the partnership, highlighting the potential for zero-emission amphibious flights and the role of hydrogen-electric propulsion.
  • ZeroAvia is actively involved in global hydrogen infrastructure projects and testing electrolyzers for on-site hydrogen generation, emphasizing the commitment to clean aircraft propulsion systems.
JEKTA, a Switzerland-based aircraft developer, has partnered with ZeroAvia to enhance its PHA-ZE 100 amphibious aircraft with ZeroAvia's fuel cell power generation system (PGS). This collaboration aims to introduce a fuel cell variant of the electric aircraft, offering increased range and payload capacity. By incorporating ZeroAvia's hydrogen fuel system, the PHA-ZE 100 is expected to achieve a range of up to 500 or 600km and increase payload by one tonne, supporting a life of up to 20,000 hours. The partnership also involves certifying an integrated power generation system with a hydrogen tank and fuel system to provide operators the option of two fuel sources: hydrogen or electric battery. ZeroAvia's CEO, Val Miftakhov, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, foreseeing a future of zero-emission amphibious flights with hydrogen-electric propulsion. Additionally, ZeroAvia's involvement in global hydrogen infrastructure projects and testing of electrolyzers for on-site hydrogen generation demonstrates a commitment to clean aircraft propulsion systems and sustainable aviation practices.
