  • The research topics include large-scale liquefied hydrogen infrastructure, safety standards for import terminals, offshore green hydrogen production, and economic feasibility studies.
  • Professor Hwang's team has presented groundbreaking hydrogen technology advancements at global conferences and is leveraging past achievements for future collaborations.
  • The collaboration aims to publish research outcomes in prestigious journals to contribute valuable insights to the global hydrogen energy sector.
Professor Hwang Ji-hyun and his research team at KENTECH in South Korea are on the verge of signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Linde, a German hydrogen energy technology giant, to engage in collaborative research. The partnership will focus on four critical research areas that are pivotal for building a strong hydrogen ecosystem both locally and internationally. These areas include establishing a large-scale liquefied hydrogen infrastructure, developing safety standards for import terminals, creating offshore green hydrogen production technology, and evaluating the economic feasibility of importing hydrogen from key regions like the Middle East, Australia, and Chile to South Korea. The collaboration with Linde will enable KENTECH to work on projects spanning the entire hydrogen value chain. Notably, the first research focus involves setting up a significant liquefied hydrogen infrastructure in Boryeong City, with substantial funding allocated to the project. Additionally, the team led by Professor Hwang has excelled in presenting innovative hydrogen production technologies at renowned global conferences, positioning them as key contributors to the field. Furthermore, the research team plans to leverage past achievements and international collaborative outcomes to enhance their partnerships with leading global companies in the hydrogen energy sector. By aiming to publish their research findings in distinguished journals, the team seeks to share valuable insights and contribute to the advancement of hydrogen technology globally. This collaboration signifies a significant step towards fostering a sustainable hydrogen ecosystem and driving innovation in the field of green energy.
