Lhyfe, a key player in green hydrogen production, is commencing the construction of its largest green hydrogen production site in Le Cheylas, France, with an initial capacity of 4 tonnes per day, doubling the original plan. This project, named Lhyfe Le Cheylas, will play a crucial role in decarbonising heavy transport, industry, and specific sectors by replacing grey hydrogen. The site will contribute to the reindustrialization of a brownfield area and support the region's transition to a low-carbon economy. The hydrogen produced will primarily be used to decarbonize mobility, including supplying fuel stations and supporting high-emission sectors like metallurgy and microelectronics. Lhyfe has signed a long-term contract with HYmpulsion, ensuring the supply of green hydrogen to stations in the Alps. Additionally, financial support from the Just Transition Fund and the Clean Hydrogen Partnership underscores the commitment to sustainable energy practices. The project has garnered praise from regional authorities, highlighting the significance of European funding in advancing the hydrogen industry. The Vice President of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region expresses support for the project and emphasizes the region's pioneering role in hydrogen development.
